The honest answer
Format preservation is the entire premise of Pika Edit. Every other resume builder we know of treats your upload as raw text and lays it out in one of their templates. Pika Edit treats your upload as the source of truth - your design, your fonts, your spacing - and only changes the content you tell us to change. That is a deliberately different product.
If you searched "edit resume keep format," you have probably already been burned. Word lost your font. Canva would only edit if it were a Canva file in the first place. A resume builder offered to "convert" it to one of their templates - which is the opposite of keeping the format. The frustration is real: you have a resume that looks how you want it to look, and there is no obvious tool that lets you just edit the words without redoing the look.

Fonts (including font weights), font sizes per section, line spacing, column structure (single vs multi-column), bullet styles (dot, dash, square), section headings styles, spacing between sections, decorative elements (lines, dividers), colors. Effectively everything visual that is in the original PDF.
Pika preserves whatever font is embedded in your original PDF. If the font is licensed and embedded, the downloaded PDF will use the same font. If the font is not embedded (older or non-standard fonts), Pika picks the closest substitute and flags it before download so you can confirm.
